29.3.10 Line-Up complete! Atari Teenage Riot, I-Fire and Urlaub in Polen!
Ladies and Gentleman, please stand up for our line-up 2010! One of the last bands announced for this year’s edition are ATARI TEENAGE RIOT! Back in the match after their 10 years break, the revolotionists by trade will start with a few concerts in May. Their first stops: London, Paris, Rom and Hauzenberg! In the 90’s they invented a whole new style with their wild, aggressive, noisy and revolutionary electronic-shout-mix and we promise they didn’t lose one of their aspects when conquering the place on Friday night!
Moreover I-FIRE confirmed their gig and will make you enjoy their Roots-Reggae-Styles. The nine Jah-Guys from Hamburg are driven by reggae-riddims mixed with modern HipHop Sound and sing german lyrics. Saturday afternoon URLAUB IN POLEN will be another highlight opening a new field of atmospheric sound-landscapes and real individual electronic.rock. These are the last bands on our mainstage, but apart from our second so-called “Culture-Stage” many surprises will wait for you on-site! ! Here's the complete Line-Up.
21.3.10 New bands confirmed: Fiddler’s Green and Grossstadtgeflüster
A warm welcome to the personified Irish Speed! Since 20 years on the road Fiddler’s Green is one of the best-live bands Germany can offer. Their shows for celebrating the anniversary are already completely sold out - The kings of speedfolk will make you dance on Saturday – 100% guaranteed!
On Sunday Grossstadtgeflüster continues celebrating the elecrotronic-pop-punk-party-trash with. Their new longplayer „Alles muss man selber machen“ is a great example of dance-beats mixed with aggressively spoken lyrics. With this mixture they’ll just make you a bit happier!
You can apply for becoming as a POA-Roadchecker RIGHT HERE . There you’ll find an exact list in which cities we’re stillsearching Roadchecker.
15.3.10 Event limited to 6000 Tickets
To remain a comfortable festival with loads of space for camping, thinking and partying we decided to limit this year’s ticket capacity to 6000 three-day passes. There will be pre-sale only and no sale of tickets at the doors! Additional day-passes will be sold which don’t allow camping though. We decided to do this as we would like to stay in Hauzenberg with the POA and the camping is at its limits. With this, we assure no waiting lines at the toilets, and a nice green piece of lawn for everyone to set up his or her tent! So, get your ticket, before it’s too late! The bus-tickets for camping vans are almost sold out already. More here.
9.3.10 The Soul and the Allgäu come to visit Hauzenberg
Experience a „geschenkter Tag" on the festival – the second album of singer songwriter and former Freundeskreis-frontman Max Herre describes his personal development in peotical episodes. Full of passion, Max Herre will sing songs from real life on Saturday night! A warm welcome Max, we're proud to having you playing here!
On sunday evening, a completely crazy mixture from the Allgäu will get your ears into positive trouble: Rainer Von Vielen is music which incorporates the breeze from the alpine sleeves and mixes it up with ragga-like, critical vocals. There’s no genre invented yet to describe this great type of music. Welcome to the POA, we’re looking forward to having these two groups on our mainstage!
28.2.10 Contest II: Two bands hit the first place
...and we think: both should play! After five spectacular gigs the jury decided to go for two bands as winners: The Mariachis de las Fiestas Locas from Pettenbach in Austria convinced the audience with their performance and individual variety. The local band Zierkürbis came up with an incredible amount of power and a hymn for Hauzenberg especially written for the festival and by this won a slot on the mainstage! Thanks a lot to the other three bands: Nice Guy Eddie, The Pussies of Death und Jonny Rider It was a tough decision. Many thanks to all bands playing during these two days for great contest-concerts! The pics from Friday can be found on Passau-Live!
27.2.10 Unbelievable: Contest I done!
After 20 minutes of heated discussions the jury decided which band won the a gig on the mainstage: DIE UNFASSBAREN (exactly translated „The unbelievables“) found a way into the hearts of the audience by singing a local-dialect-rap. We greatly appreciated the gigs of all other bands of the day and are looking forward to having the second Contest-final today: One more time, 5 bands will join the battle for Hauzenberg – be part of the show!
25.2.10 Contest Countdown (26.2./27.2): (Find the complete programm for the two shows here)
3.2.10 First bands confirmed: Revolverheld, Bonaparte, Irie Révoltés and Frittenbude! - On Friday the X-Mas special for tickets ends
Having a brandnew album in March REVOLVERHELD will come into the bavarian forest to play real Indie-Rock and by this following the tradition of our hall of Indie-Fame in Hauzenberg! In addition the sweat will pearl from all bodies when screaming “Anti Anti!” and female dancers move their legs burlesque like! Around ten people in masks will enter the stage and go crazy. Celebrating a revolution they'll ask you: „Do you want to party with the BONAPARTE ?!“ The Circus Show - live at the POA!
More rebels are coming up, being more into Reggae, Dancehall, Hip Hop, Ska and Punk: The nine guys from IRIE RÉVOLTÉS will enter the stagewerden armed with their driving sound and sociocritical, partly german, partly french lyrics. Formed during a car-drive to the Pfingst-Open-Air FRITTENBUDE is now well established in the genre of Elektropunk and play a leader role! It's time to come back to where it all began and party with you!
Attention: The extetended deadline for the X-Mas special for our Tickets is running out on Friday. After this the ticket will cost 5 Euro more.
28.1.10 It is official: Pfingst-Open-Air 2010 stays in Hauzenberg!
Wow...yesterday the panel for environmental issues of the bavarian ministry decided animously and with the votes from all different parties that the POA is as important for our regionas Rock im Park is for the Nürnberg area and put the rights for permiting the event back to the City of Hauzenberg. The city council had a special meeting directly afterwards and permitted the event with 17:1 votes!
The best thing is: We can move things in our democracy if all people participate and stand up for their rights! This will be a positive signal for all other event managers! We are thankful for the broad support from all different sides and want to shout out loud A Big Up for all of you!
Enough bureaucratical talk: Next week we'll present you the first bands - promised!!

22.1.10 A gleam of hope: Ministry reassesses the situation!
The immense efforts from the city administration, all citizens of Hauzenberg, the phenomenous resonance in the media and last but not least the support from all friends and guests of the POA seems to pay off:
On friday afternoon we received news from the bavarian ministry for environment that the situation will be reassessed. The right to give permission should be given back to the City.
The policital decision has to becom official though which will heopefully happen next Thursday. Only if there are no new requirements whatsoever the POA has to fulfill we can become active again. We'll keep you updated!
20.1.10 The heat is on! Update about the protest!
The support for rescueing the POA is taken to a new level: Peopl blog, twitter, write on discussion boards and download and send our remonstrative letter. The newly found Facebook-Group already reached 1100 members within 3 days! New from the media as well: After the article in the SZ many other newspapers brought the topic! 15.1.10 Remonstrative Letters! Save the POA in Hauzenberg!
Download the remonstrative letter here!
Since December the our plans for the 29th Pfingst-Open-Air are on hold. We'll definitely perform the band-contest, but the fact is: The bavarian ministry of environment is against the event due to the noise. The whole city council and the population of Hauzenberg are all comited to the festival but seem to be helpless. It's not the case that we are against any environmental issues: Our festival gained the "Sounds for Nature" Award last year, offered generously by the federal agency for nature conservationfor a sustainable festival management. Especially our new recycling concept for the trash is loutstanding and eading the environmental movement for german festivals.
The last year's noise recordings are the base for the decision of the bavarian ministry of environment, but they can be questioned. The result of this is that we can't book any bands or sign contracts without knowing if the festival actually can take place and we understand that neither you nor the musicians want to wait any longer.
Our last chance: The environmental panel will discuss this issue on January 28th. We count on a healthy decision which takes the public opinion as a senseful base. To support the right decision you can now download a remonstrative letter and send it directly to the bavarian environment minister Söder. Download <herer> and send it until Jan, 26th to:
Bayerisches Staatsministerium für Umwelt und Gesundheit, Herrn Umweltminister Dr. Markus Söder, Rosenkavalierplatz 2, 81925 München
Here's an article in the Süddeutsche Zeitung concerning this issue: SZ-Artikel 15.01.10.
13.1.10 The 10 winners are chosen!
The band-contest is close to its 3rd edition. From the 150 bands who applied 10 were chosen to play against each other in two shows. The two final winners will enter the POA-Mainstage! The concerts will take place in the Zeughaus 26./27. Februar. We proudly present the winners:
Friday, 26.2.10 | Saturday, 27.2.10 |
Der Jungbrunn | Mariachis de las fiestas locas |
Many thanks for all the creative applications. It wasn't an easy decision. If you were not chosen this time there's still a chance to get nominated directly short before the booking is finished.
12.1.10 Administration will decide about the future of the Pfingst-Open-Airs end of Jan!
Dear friends of the Pfingst-Open-Air, times are tough and in the opinion of some people too loud as well. The ministry for environment is of this opinion. In contrast the city of Hauzenberg wants to rescue the festival and handed a petition to the bavarian parliament to keep the festival. By the end of January the parliament will decide about the future of the POA. A vast majority of the city council supports the festival and a private initiative collected over 3000 signatures pro Festival in a couple of days. If you want to know more, here's some background information from the media:
- the formal approval in the city council (July 09)
- the Newspaper article about the private initiative (Dec 09)
- the Press release of the Rockoffice Bavaria, about the situation (Dec 09)
- the associated article in the UI Hauzenberg (Jan 10)
We hope the best to be able to organise the 10th Hauzenberger edition. Tickets will be still valid. If the festival won't take place you'll get your money back, of course. The early bird special will be extended, the contest-shows will take place no matter which decision is taken.

22.3.09 The Campingbusticket is coming!
The ticket for camping-busses is new this year and unavoidable. Reasons for this are our limited space for these nice little vehicles and hence the resulting arrival on thursday. As the city restricts us to let guests in on friday morning the earliest we found a solution that this is not essential anymore anyways: You can buy a ticket for a camping-bus or a campervan, but not for a car (no exception for station wagons). A ticket costs 10 Euro spend on the extra work involved. To buy a ticket you have to send us the number on the numberplate which will be checked at the entrance together with a security code number. The ticket is invalid if the number is from a normal car. This is to protect the busses and its people relying on it as a pülace to sleep in.
The tickets are limited on the available space. If sold out, there's a chance to park on our carpark connected to the festival area by a shuttle bus running almost around the clock.

What a beauty - what a nice festival we've had! We still got goose bumps when thinking back to this wunderful weekend and hope you feel the same!
There's loads of keys, mobile phones and other things in our "lost property" box. Just send an e-mail to Kathi if you miss out on sth. The first quick pics are online now, for the real shots, we ask you to be patient, as our Pro-Photographers need their time. For next year we definitely will improve our entrance system again and after several suggestions from you will make it impossible to campen without a ticket. The time in Hauzenberg comes to an end now as all the trash will be gone by tomorrow the latest. So, Hauzenberg citizens can enjoy their park again in summertime. EA big thanks to all the 6000 visitors, who made this festival a massive party in the sunshine.
Yours, the POA Crew

20.3.08 Asian Dub Foundation instead of La Vela Puerca!
Unfortunately La Vela Puerca had to cancel their whole Europe-Tour. We found a more than adequate band tohop into the gap: The Asian Dub Foundation will play one of their rare gigs and celebrate a mixture of Ragga-Vocals and Break-Beats in your ears and brains! Therefore they even arranged to play their new songs of the upcoming album exclusively! We're sorry for the cancellation of La Vela Puerca, but are really thrilled to get the chance to see the Asian Dub Foundation live on stage at the Pfingst-Open-Air!

We're starting the party with one of the most interesting indie-rock bands of last year: The FOTOS. The first album was celebrated by the media already in 2006. German vocals and meet a rocking attitude and the beats go directly into the legs. The second album is announced for this April, the hype-fuze is alreadyin flames and the band will totally go off live in 3D on the Festivalsite of Hauzenberg!
For the final on sunday it is time for Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar to hit the stage! Originating in the electronical Downbeat, Shantel from Frankfurt (singer, multiinstrumentalist, DJ and musical partner of celebrities like Kruder & Dorfmeister) discovered his affinity to the french Savoir Vivre, Funk, Soul, Ska, Speed Folk and eastern european Brass loads of trips and travels. He decided to combine it all! Last autumn his debut record (with active help from Manu Chao) „Disco Partizani“ was released and went straight into the minds and hearts of the audience as well as the media. The title is true and authentic as this is the best description for his concerts.Happy New Year from the POA Crew!
